I find the hassle pretty minimal and can be best avoided by following 1 simple rule. I agree that many people make it out to be much worse than it is. Hopefully this saves you the hassle of dealing with the annoying swarm of taxi hustlers. It is an air conditioned coach bus wth tv. The ADO to Tulum will end up costing you around $7 usd.

They'll sell you two tickets, one to Playa del Carmen, where you get off and transfer to another bus to Tulum. Tell the ADO person at the stand that you want to go to Tulum. Once you make it to an open ADO stand, the process is easy. Just be patient, the shuttles rarely run on the time that is posted, but it will show. ***some hustler will probably walk by 20 times and tell you that the shuttle isn't coming.

You can get a free terminal to terminal shuttle outside. We had luck going to terminal 2 at around 9:30am since terminal 1's stand hadn't been set up yet. They are lying.īasically, if its after 9am and you don't see the ADO stand by the shuttle bus pickup, then head to a different terminal. The taxi hustlers will say they are 'the guy with the bus tickets'. ***do not purchase a ticket from any random guy not working at the ADO stand. Plus, since everyone is trying to get you into an overpriced cab, no one will tell you the real time the ADO starts selling tickets. The tricky part is that each terminal sets up their stands at different times so it can be confusing which terminal you have to be at to buy your ticket. Terminal 1,2, and 3 each have a ADO stand that is located outside each terminal where the shuttle busses pick people up. The security guards at the terminal are in on the hustle so don't try to ask them either. They might even show you an "official document" of the bus prices. They will tell you that the bus is going to be $150 usd or that it's my running that day or some other lie. And Mexican jail is not how you want to start your vacay.Īs soon as you get out of the terminal you are going to be bombarded by taxi hustlers left and right.
